Manassas, VA — February 26, 2024

Five City of Manassas-based companies are taking home the highest honors from the Annual Prince William Chamber of Commerce Business Awards event, including the 2024 Manassas Business of the Year – Micron Technology, Inc.

The awards were presented at the annual business awards dinner, hosted by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce at Foxchase Manor on February 23rd.

Among the many City businesses that were nominated for awards, four stood out by winning their respective categories. ARTfactory won the Agnes L. Colgan Award for Arts & Education, ECU Communications LLC won Government Contracting Company of the Year, Manassas Ballet Theatre won the Community Outreach Awards (11+ employees), and MP Copiers, Inc. won Veteran-Owned Company of the Year.

This year, the City of Manassas Business of the Year award went to Micron Technology, Inc., a global leader in the semiconductor industry and a major employer in the City of Manassas, employing over 1,300. Their memory products are the number one export in Virginia and they are the number two manufacturer of memory in the world.  The company continues to be a great partner within the community, specifically within education.  Micron knows that education and a strong community are vital to the success of both society and innovative companies, and they remain an ardent partner in Manassas and the surrounding jurisdictions.

Micron was instrumental in securing $250,000 in the first round of GO Virginia funding for a state-of-the-art engineering technology “Fabrication Laboratory” in Northern Virginia. This project will help create high-paying engineering jobs in the greater Manassas region by leveraging established internship programs at Micron Technology and BAE Systems as well as the existing SySTEMic curriculum at Northern Virginia Community College’s Manassas campus. Micron has committed $3 billion to its future R&D and growth potential, making Manassas home to the largest capital investment in Virginia’s history.

“Micron Technology has built a powerful reputation both locally and globally, and is heavily invested in our community” says Manassas City Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger. “In addition to the 1,300 jobs that it provides for our engineers and technicians, Micron gives back to Manassas in the form of educational internships, environmental stewardship, cultural enhancement, and so much more.”

“Micron is one of the most advanced technology companies in the world, producing the semiconductors that power our automobiles and computers.  The company’s ongoing expansion in Manassas is the largest capital investment ever made in the Commonwealth of Virginia.” says Economic Development Director Patrick Small. “Micron is the City’s largest taxpayer, utility user, and employer – but their community engagement is beyond measure.”

“We are incredibly proud of the winners from Manassas and grateful to the Chamber for its continued advocacy on behalf of our business community” adds Mayor Davis-Younger.  “The Manassas City Council and our City staff go to great efforts to create a business environment where companies like these can thrive.”
