Dabble Creative Reuse Center

Historic Downtown Manassas has gained a unique retail addition at 9100 Church Street!

The first of its kind in the City, Dabble Creative Reuse Center is much more than a donation-based arts and crafts thrift store. They’ve become integrated into the Manassas tapestry.

After a fulfilling and successful career in the private sector, Kelly and Greg Auldridge took a chance on a novel business concept. Kelly admits the business community itself deserves much credit in their idea-come-to-life. In her own words:

“We have been absolutely wowed by the support we have received from the community and other small business owners in Manassas. Dabble wouldn’t even exist without Fillagreen. We discovered the concept of a CRC (Creative Reuse Center) there, the owners have guided us through the launch process, and continue to mentor us. The people of the Manassas community have come out with so much love and support for what we are building. Our business growth depends on the community donating their unused items and being excited about shopping second hand. We have been really happy to confirm that people are excited to do both!”

Kelly and Greg are taking full advantage of our local Small Business Development CenterOne Million Cups, Manassas City schools, and Prince William Chamber of Commerce to better connect within the community and increase their opportunities for success.

On top of their specialty commerce and products, Dabble will be adding public and private arts and crafting classes in the months to come. Check them out at www.dabblecrc.com and see them yourselves at 9100 Church Street in Suite 101!

Manassas Public Works

Did you know that about 25% of the City’s total budget accounts for vital infrastructure services and projects managed by the Public Works division?

This essential department is led by Director Steve Burke, who has recently returned to City of Manassas after serving as Town Manager in Luray, Virginia. Earlier in his career, Burke served as Town Manager of Front Royal, Virginia before beginning his first term as the City’s Public Works Director from 2016-2018. At present, he brings more than 20 years of experience in local government, municipal operations, and capital improvement projects, greatly enhancing the City’s capacity to serve the public.

Residents likely have had interaction with many snow plows last month as they cleared 254.5 lane miles of City streets. Publics Works manages these projects, but also employs the maintenance workers who have a combined 157+ years of specialized experience to keep school buses and other City fleet and emergency vehicles running smoothly.

Public Works also plays key leadership in development and beautification of most of our public spaces. These include the successful completion of the renovated Manassas Museum, current renovation of City Hall, crosswalk/ pedestrian improvements at Liberia & Euclid, the Wellington & Fairview shared use path extension, and maintenance of 13 City parks.

In total, Steve Burke manages more than 61 full-time employees who contribute to a host of services that benefit Manassas residents – from recycling to leaf removal to traffic signal installation. Ultimately, these ongoing projects are one of many reasons residents (and businesses) rate quality of City services 19 percentage points higher than the national average. For that, a hat tip to Mr. Burke’s team, and best wishes in this next tenure!
