STEM Solutions Celebrates First Physical Location in Historic Manassas

Long-time resident, Brad Wilson, is celebrating a significant milestone. His company, STEM Solutions, recently transitioned from the City’s premier co-working space, CENTERFUSE, to its first physical office at 9401 Battle Street, Suite 203.

STEM Solutions, LLC specializes in connecting security-cleared talent with federal contractors nationwide, as well as providing executive and management professionals to commercial companies throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. Brad brings nearly a decade of experience in recruitment roles in the government contracting industry. He’s found a niche in utilizing AI to help individuals with extensive defense industry experience transition into private sector opportunities.

We asked Brad how things have been going settling into a physical office, and he commented that “showing off” Historic Manassas has been especially fulfilling. He said, “I have had multiple clients tell me upon visiting our office and doing lunch that they had no idea how much Old Town Manassas had to offer. It feels like you are showing others a hidden gem.”

Brad has deep roots in Manassas. The title for his 2006 Osbourn High School state football championship is proudly displayed on the City’s water tower. He’s an active member of the OHS alumni board, has onboarded an intern, and has begun discussions with Osbourn’s Career & Technical Education department to hire more graduates as his company grows.

Please join us in welcoming STEM Solutions to the Manassas business family, and keep up with the latest developments on their website and LinkedIn pages.

Federal Funding Available for Early-Stage, High-Growth Companies

City of Manassas currently holds the fifth-highest weekly wage for professional and business services in Virginia, in large part due to the City’s highly technical defense industry and supplier ecosystem.

Employers and emerging companies within the defense industry and similar R&D fields may be eligible to accelerate product development with the help of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) federal funding opportunities.

The Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) is a great resource to tap into the $150K- $1.5M currently available for research and development that supports the missions of the 11 participating federal agencies.

To get started, explore the webinar archive and VIPC’s website to better understand the three phases of funding and the essential do’s and don’ts for successful applications.

Locally, George Mason University and the Small Business Development Center have experts who can help entrepreneurs and researchers navigate SBIR/STTR funding, commercialization, patent development, and a host of other items related to product discovery and launch. Learn more here.
