Jeslout-Beauty-225x300 Business Beat: Jeslout Beauty Launches First Brick-and-Mortar Salon at Hastings Marketplace

Jeslout Beauty Launches First Brick-and-Mortar Retail Location at 10080 Market Street

Jesenia Mejia’s once home-based cosmetology business, Jeslout Beauty, is now open to the public and primed for growth at 10080 Market Street in the walkable, mixed-use Hastings Marketplace in Manassas.

Jeslout Beauty offers a full menu of cosmetology services including facials, hair removal, eyebrow design, and professional makeup. Jesenia’s specialty service is makeup and eyelash extensions, which she built a following for at various markets and in-home events and parties.

Jesenia’s path as an entrepreneur is a familiar one. Her journey began a couple of years ago while seeking meaningful and flexible work that would allow her time to prioritize her daughter and home life. As her client list continued to grow, mentors recognized her talent and encouraged Jesenia to seriously consider 10080 Market Street once it became available for lease. And that she did. Jesenia believes her networking abilities, courage to seek counsel from fellow business owners, and ability to act on opportunities swiftly and with discernment is what sets Jesenia apart and what has kept her moving forward.

When we asked Jesenia if anything has surprised her about this recent transition, she said that the paperwork and business formation steps with the City has fortunately been easier for her than expected. We have no doubt Jesenia’s optimistic attitude and eagerness to participate in what she calls a “welcoming and kind” Manassas business community will be an asset to Jeslout Beauty in the weeks and months ahead at 10080 Market Street.

Two City of Manassas Businesses Recognized with VSBA Business Honor Roll

Local businesses have the power to shape community attitudes about public schools, and the Virginia School Board Association’s VSBA Business Honor Roll is a way for local school divisions throughout the Commonwealth to recognize local businesses for their support. The Business Honor Roll helps divisions say “thank you” to these businesses for their vital contributions.

Each year, the VSBA invites school divisions to pass a resolution recognizing up to three businesses for the Business Honor Roll. This year, two City of Manassas businesses and one Prince William County business were recognized for their ongoing support of Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS). They were:

Comfort Keepers of Greater Prince William: Recognized for participation in numerous events that support MCPS students, including the annual Hiring Day event, sponsoring scrubs for clinical experiences, the annual CTE Career & Conversation’s Day, the MCPS Job Fair, and various leadership and speaking events.

Sheehy Nissan of Manassas: Sheehy has been a regular host for student internships, which include High-Quality Work-based Learning, career pathways, and industry insights. In several instances, internships have led to the auto-dealer offering formal employment post-graduation. Sheehy representatives also serve on the MCPS Automotive Technology Program Advisory Committee.

All Assured Solutions (Prince William County): Recognized for partnering on critical Career & Technical Education (CTE) programming, including Job Fairs, Career and Conversation’s Day, and participating as a member on the mentoring advisory committee.
