Community Conversations Summary: Manassas Shopping Center

The City of Manassas continues to make efforts to determine a long-term vision for redevelopment of the Manassas Shopping Center, a key gateway along Mathis Avenue. Following two bilingual Community Conversations events in June that engaged over 100+ residents, the summary report revealed strong support for mixed-use redevelopment with housing, retail, and active public spaces, alongside a clear emphasis on walkability, connectivity, and green space. Residents also weighed in on various topics ranging from architectural preferences to traffic flow and streetscape use.

This project aligns with the City’s broader mission to enhance economic opportunity, expand housing and retail options, and create vibrant public spaces. Located within the Mathis Avenue Capital Improvement Project, the site has strong potential to catalyze investment and strengthen connections to Historic Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.
