Gem’s Salon Opens in Samantha’s Corner

Linda Tobar has been honing her craft for cosmetology since the early age of 15, when she received a professional crash course during a summer visit with family in El Salvador. She has since gone on to manage several construction companies and other small businesses, until an opportunity arose to launch her own salon at 8759 Mathis Avenue.

Together, with the part-time help of her Aunt Gladis Gomez, the two have opened Gem’s Salon in a beautifully decorated space with plenty of room to grow. The salon currently offers nail and hair services, with plans to bring on a dedicated aesthetician. Linda’s ambition runs deep—she’s already envisioning an in-house “accelerator salon” to inspire and introduce teens to the trade, just as she was first introduced to it in El Salvador.

Deadlift Virginia Launches First Distribution Space in Manassas

After years of steady sales, Deadlift Virginia recently launched their first wholesale distribution space at 8535 Phoenix Drive, Manassas. Zachria Hashemi, a personal trainer and former physical therapy assistant, began purchasing and selling in-home workout equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. That effort quickly escalated, with Zachria accumulating 400 ratings on his Facebook Marketplace channel and drawing the interest of a private investor and partner. City of Manassas became a location of choice when the company was introduced to the convenient warehouse space on Phoenix Drive, with close proximity to the City’s robust infrastructure network and a growing, affluent residential market.
