Scaffolding Provider for Presidential Inauguration Locates in Manassas

For over a decade Scaffolding Solutions has provided comprehensive scaffolding services across Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., and the Carolinas. In late 2024, the company moved its Northern Virginia business operation into the City of Manassas to have closer access to key transportation infrastructure and the D.C. market.

Scaffolding Solutions has serviced the Presidential Inauguration for the past two events and is diligently preparing for its third on January 20. They are also a primary contractor for the U.S. Treasury, and, closer to home, a scaffolding provider for the City’s recent restoration of Annaburg.

Division Manager Steve Ott has been pleased with the specialty care they have received since moving to Manassas. “Finding facilities that fit our business well proved more difficult than we anticipated, and the City delivered with the quality space we were seeking. In addition, we think that the City is supportive of construction and service-oriented companies like ours,” says Ott.

The company places heavy emphasis on talent development, hiring individuals with varying degrees of training in construction, engineering, sales, and project management. Ott anticipates the company will double in size in the next three years.

City Cuts Ribbon on First Wawa

On December 20, 2024, Wawa, the nation’s leading convenience store chain, celebrated the grand opening of its first store in the City of Manassas. The newly constructed 8704 Sudley Road location brings 30 additional jobs to the area with starting pay at $17.50 per hour. Wawa is proud to be more than 40% employee-owned, fostering a unique culture of associate pride and commitment.

This new Manassas location serves as a 24/7 convenience hub for both residents and healthcare workers at nearby UVA Prince William Medical Center, the City’s largest employer. In addition, the frontage improvements made by Wawa during the demolition and redevelopment of this site also supports the Sudley Road Streetscape Project, a beautification effort that will enhance one of the gateway entrances into the City, and which continues the City’s efforts at improving commercial corridors.

The grand opening featured a ribbon cutting ceremony, a Hoagies for Heroes competition between the City police and fire departments, and a $30,000 grant to Special Olympics Virginia. This investment in the City not only strengthens the local economy, but also reinforces Wawa’s commitment to fulfilling lives through quality products, job creation, and community involvement.
