Once Micron opens its $3 billion expansion in 10 years — the largest economic development project in Virginia history — the tech giant will increase its water demand by 1.3 million gallons per day.
Aurora, a Boeing Company headquartered in Manassas, continues its nearly 30-year legacy of advancing autonomous systems with Odysseus, the world’s most capable solar-powered autonomous aircraft.
Manassas, Virginia, site of two landmark battles in the War Between the States, ushered in a new era on August 29 when Micron Technology Inc. announced that it will invest $3 billion and hire 1,100 workers over 15 years to increase memory production at its plant in the city 40 miles (64 km.) west of Washington, D.C. The average annual wage will be close to $100,000 plus benefits.
“I am excited the City’s Economic Development Authority was able to help support our efforts to grow small businesses in the community,” said Patrick Small, economic development director for Manassas.
“Having an SBDC office located at CenterFuse in Historic Downtown Manassas will allow existing small businesses and aspiring business owners direct access to counseling and support services close to their homes and offices,” Small said.
If all goes according to plan, the hotel’s construction will begin in April. It would stand near the DMV and The Landing at Cannon Branch, a townhome development that’s being built.
