A Virginia Leader in Business and Jobs

As a City, our first priority is keeping residents safe. We recommend everyone practice social distancing and follow the safety precautions recommended by the CDC.

While you focus on staying safe and healthy, there are different things you can do to protect the health of our local business community. Local businesses are struggling from a dramatic decrease in sales, which is not likely to end soon. The Department of Economic Development is focused on identifying mitigation and relief measures we can take to help the business community, and have been busy creating resources to aid our local businesses in navigating this ongoing situation.

We urge the public to take all recommended safety precautions outlined under the State of Emergency but want to emphasize that local shops and restaurants need help from the public.

Please support the Manassas business community. Here are ways you can help:

Order Delivery and Carry-Out From Local Restaurants

Dine-in restaurants are closed, but some establishments offer delivery, carry-out and/or curb-side options. Even restaurants that have not previously offered these options are starting to adopt them, so give your favorite spot a call!

Send Someone a Meal

Order a meal for coworkers, friends or neighbors – especially the homebound, those sheltering in place and people in high risk categories. We must be there for one another and ensure that everyone has what they need to weather this storm. Get it to go or have it delivered.

Buy Gift Cards

You can purchase gift cards online for most businesses, and use them at a future date. This is a great way to show your support of local shops that are likely experiencing a massive drop in cash flow caused by limited foot traffic to their storefronts.

Order Retail Items FROM Local Shops Online

Please keep online shopping local to the extent you can. We have to think about the businesses in our community. For most businesses, you can choose to pick up the item in-store or have it delivered to your home.

Practice Kindness

For many, these are scary times. It is more important than ever that we come together as a community and support one another. Send someone flowers or a small gift from a local merchant to let them know you’re thinking of them.

Our business community is what makes Manassas such a great place to live and work. They are our friends and neighbors, and they employ our friends and neighbors. We need them to be here after the crisis is over, and to guarantee that, we have to support them now.
